A truly good useless website accomplishes nothing and does it flawlessly. Useless websites are not broken or abandoned; they are finished. Someone had one silly idea, built it properly, and then let it be.
That is why Eel Slap is a masterpiece: it lets you slap a face with an eel and then stops asking for anything. Cat Bounce launches cats around your screen, with the force you use deciding how bouncy they are (the page asks you to go easy, because it makes the cats cry). Pointer Pointer matches your cursor with a photograph of a person pointing at that exact spot. Draw a Perfect Circle scores your freehand circle, which turns into a grudge match with your own hand.
If you came looking for a button that serves up random sites, ours is Take me somewhere odd, and this page has its own: "Surprise me from this list" picks a random entry from the cards below.
We keep these honest. Every link is checked daily, so you will not click through to a parked domain, and every card shows how long the joke lasts, from 30 seconds to a rabbit hole. A few have quirks: Endless Horse only works over plain HTTP, and Pointer Pointer needs a mouse.
The top eight are the ones that earn their keep fastest. After that, the list rewards wandering.
Wiggle your cursor and a stranger in a photo points right at it.
Bounce cats around the screen. Gently, they cry.
Watch the DVD logo bounce and wait for the perfect corner hit.
A password machine that is brutally honest about your choices.
Trace a circle and get scored on how perfect it is.
It tells you NO, almost every day of the year.
Mash the keyboard and look like you are hacking the Pentagon.

Blow $100 billion on everything from Big Macs to an NBA team.
Dig a hole and see where you would come out the other side.

A clicker game about making an ASCII doge unreasonably long.
Real-time counters for population, births, deaths and more.
Real-time counts of emails sent, tweets posted and sites online.
Every refresh shows a human face that never existed.
AI invents a word, a definition and an example sentence.
AI writes and illustrates a holiday rental that isn't real.
A years-long, alphabetical blog judging the world's sandwiches.
Satirical reviews of strange book titles and covers.
A search engine for the classic web, with a surprise button.
An infinite shared text canvas anyone can write on.
Click through a pixelated mosaic until the picture appears.
What counts as useless. The test is simple: if the site disappeared tomorrow, nobody's work would stop. That rules out tools and educational pages, which live in Tools You Didn't Need and Oddly Educational. What stays is the pure gag, the art-piece joke, and the slightly sinister counter, like Worldometer, whose live-ticking numbers do very little except mesmerize.
How we ordered it. The first picks are quick, mobile-friendly and reliable. Further down are slow burners: Cookie Clicker and The Long Doge Challenge are clickers that can quietly eat an evening, and The Password Game is shorter but angrier.
Tips.
Want the wider picture? Weird Websites You Won't Believe Exist is the broader tour, Websites to Waste Time is the quick-hit version, and the Pointless Websites category lists everything tagged useless.
Eel Slap is a strong contender: one page, one action, no explanation. Cat Bounce, Endless Horse and Bouncing DVD Logo are close behind. What makes them great is that they are polished at being pointless, not accidentally broken, and each one is checked daily so the joke still loads.
The Useless Web is a well-known site with a single button that sends you to a random strange website. It is a different site from ours. Our button, Take me somewhere odd, works similarly but draws from a hand-curated database, with filters, a no-repeat history and daily link checks.
Yes. The sites on this list are free to use, with no account or signup required for their main experience. A few show ads or affiliate links, such as Always Judge a Book by its Cover, and we note that on their profiles.
Many do, including Cat Bounce, Eel Slap and Endless Horse. Others, such as Pointer Pointer and Hacker Typer, need a mouse or keyboard. Each card shows a mobile badge, so you can tell at a glance before you open one.
