Typatone

Typatone is a text box that plays music. Start typing and each letter triggers a note, so words and sentences become slow, tinkling little songs. You can pick an instrument, type a poem, or mash the keys at random, and it will cheerfully turn whatever you write into something that sounds, if not good, then pleasant. When you arrive, there is no sign-up and no complicated interface to learn; you simply type. That makes it a nice little experiment in how closely language and rhythm are related, and a fun toy for kids who are just learning to spell. It is also a handy way to hear what your own name sounds like. Because it relies on the keyboard, it works best on a computer, and you will want the sound on. Try typing a favorite song lyric, then a boring email, and compare which makes the better melody.
