Sandboxels

Sandboxels is a falling-sand sandbox with hundreds of elements to mix. You place sand, water, fire, plants and many stranger materials, then watch them interact. Combining things can create chain reactions, so every experiment is a small surprise. It is made by R74n, and it runs in your browser. When you arrive, you pick elements from the menu and draw them onto the canvas; there is no goal and no score. It is easy to lose an hour. Start with simple combinations, like water and fire, then work up to the stranger elements. Some elements produce dramatic effects, so expect explosions and mess. It works on phones and desktops, though a bigger screen makes it easier to choose elements. If you like particle toys, Powder Game and the WebGL Fluid Simulation are similar and also on our list.
